Nanotechnology is the study and use of structures between 1 to 100 nanometers. To give you an idea of just how small that is, a human hair is about 60,000 nanometers in diameter and a sheet of paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick.

Silver has been used for the treatment of medical ailments for over 100 years due to its natural antibacterial and antifungal properties. The Nano-silver particles typically measure below 10nm. They have extremely large relative surface area, increasing their contact with bacteria or fungi, and vastly improving its bactericidal and fungicidal effectiveness.
The Nano-silver when in contact with bacteria and fungus will adversely affect cellular metabolism and inhibit cell growth. The Nano-silver suppresses respiration, basal metabolism of electron transfer system, and transport of substrate in the microbial cell membrane. | What is Titanium Dioxide? |

Titanium Dioxide, also known as titania is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium, chemical formula Tio2. Approved by food testing laboratory of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Titanium Dioxide is considered a safe substance and harmless to human. The Singapore National Environmental Agency (NEA) has classified Tio2 a non hazardous substance.
It is commonly used in paint printing ink, plastic, paper, synthetic fibres, rubber, condensers, painting colors and crayons, ceramics, electronic components along with food and cosmetic.
Many studies have been published on the use of Titanium Dioxide as a Photo-catalyst for the decomposition of organic compounds. After illuminated by light, Titanium Dioxide produces hydroxyl radical, which react with the organic matters in the air to form non-toxic inorganic matters. |

| What is Photo-Catalyst? |

Photo-catalyst facilitates chemical reactions by absorbing light.
When a Photo-catalyst Titanium Dioxide (Tio2) capture ultraviolet light (UV) either from sun or fluorescent light, it forms two types activated oxygen (Hydroxyl Radical and Super oxide) from water or oxygen in the air. This process is similar to photosynthesis, in which chlorophyll captures sunlight to turn water and carbon dioxide into oxygen and glucose. The formed activated oxygen is strong enough to oxidize and decompose organic materials or smelling gas, and kill bacteria. |

• UVA - 320 to 400 nanometers (Harmless)

1. Sterilising and Sanitizing Effect
With a constant amount of light provided, Photo-catalyst and Nano-silver can control and prevent growth of bacteria, germs and mould. Any harmful bacteria and germs would be killed and eventually be decomposed in this sterilized condition. Brookite Titanium Dioxide (Ti02) does not deteriorate and produces a long-term anti-bacterial effect. Generally, disinfections by Titanium Dioxide are 2 times stronger than Chlorine and 1.5 times stronger than ozone.
2. Air Purifying and Deodorizing Effect
Hydroxyl radicals are among the strongest oxidizing species, even much stronger than chlorine, ozone and peroxide. They act as very powerful disinfecting agents by oxidizing the cells of microorganisms, causing rupture and leakage of vital composition. Photo-catalyst and Nano-silver decomposes odour molecules caused by tobacco smoke, pets, chemicals in detergents, urine and fecal matters.
